WELCOME!
We warmly welcome you in our cottage located in Chevregny (Aisne). Former keeper's house of the château des Chaînées, our cottage is at the heart of a preserved nature, surrounded with hundred-year-old trees from the castle park. In addition, a private garden of more than 1000 m² is at your disposal for bucolic holidays during which you might see pheasants, does and deers during your breakfats on the terrace!
You will also be a direct witness of the history of the beginning of the twentieth century. The whole village of Chevregny has been entirely devasted during First World War (April-June 1917). The Château des Chaînées has been rebuild in the late twenties by the parisian architect Paul Robine (1872-1934) in an Arts & Crafts and Art Déco styles, which is something unique in the area of the Chemin des Dames.
In a simpler way, the cottage has been designed like all the houses in the village with grey limestones, decorated with red and yellow bricks and covered with tiles like a modern house of Hänsel &Gretel.
THE COTTAGE

Our 100m² cottage is distributed over two floors. Downstairs: one generous living room with an open kitchen, a double bedroom, a shower room with seperated WC. Upstairs : two double belrooms, one children bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom and WC.
A Terrace with garden furniture is available when the weather allows it.
Living room and kitchen
While the living area retains its original red and cream cement tiles, the room itself has been modernized with light tones—accented by a brick-colored wall—that bring comfort and warmth amidst the surrounding forest.
The kitchen has been completely updated and features a ceramic cooktop, oven, large fridge-freezer, dishwasher, and microwave. You will find dishes, glassware, pots, and utensils in the ample cupboard space provided. Two large countertops offer plenty of room for cooking or hosting baking sessions with your children!
Directly adjoining the kitchen, the dining area features a table with eight chairs and a three-door glass-fronted sideboard where you can store your breakfast essentials. In the lounge area, a large sofa and two leather armchairs are arranged near a large wooden cabinet. It is the perfect spot to spend hours reading, watching television, or playing one of the board games provided for your enjoyment.
Groundfloor bedroom (bedroom A)
Adjacent to the bedroom, the shower room features a large shower, an earthenware sink with a cabinet and mirror, and a countertop with space underneath for a washing machine and tumble dryer.
A separate toilet with a small washbasin completes the ground-floor layout.
Ground-floor shower room and toilet
The ground-floor bedroom features the same red-and-cream cement tiles found in the living room. It has two windows that flood the space with light.
The room is furnished with a double bed, two Art Deco bedside tables from the famous Hotel Lutetia in Paris, a large mahogany wardrobe with a mirrored door, a luggage rack, and a rattan armchair. Two wall hooks complete the furnishings. An ironing board is stored to the left of the wardrobe.
The 3 bedrooms at the upper floor
The upper floor comprises two spacious bedrooms and a smaller bedroom with two single beds, perfectly suited for children or teenagers.
The large gable-end bedroom features a double bed, two bedside tables with lamps, a mahogany tallboy chest of drawers, two small armchairs, and a small sideboard.
The "green rattan" bedroom contains a double bed with three bedside tables and a mahogany tallboy chest of drawers.
The small bedroom is furnished with two wooden beds, a central bedside table, and a 19th-century mahogany dresser/vanity unit. Parts for a wooden baby crib are available and stored under the eaves. The bathroom is equipped with a bathtub, a vanity unit with a sink, and a second toilet.

Internet - Wifi
Free Wi-Fi internet access (fiber optic) is available in the gîte. You have access to numerous channels as well as a telephone.
Garden
You have full use of a 1,000 m² garden featuring a large lawn bordered by a natural hedge and a section of the woodland belonging to the château park.
Linen
Kitchen towels, bath towels (2 per person), and bed linen are provided.
Kitchen
The kitchen is fully equipped with a comprehensive set of saucepans and stockpots, as well as cutlery, glassware, and dinnerware for eight people.
Outside
Directly accessible from the kitchen, the gravel terrace features a teak garden table, eight folding metal chairs, eight molded plastic armchairs, and a small table with two white metal chairs. A barbecue is provided for tenants.
Carpark
The cottage has a private area for parking up to three cars free of charge.

Laon - Cathedral and middle-age city
Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cathedrals in France, built in the Early Gothic style. Be sure to visit the town and its underground passages, as well as its museum of art and archaeology.
Visitors to the Laon area have a wealth of options to choose from! Whether you are a fan of medieval history and architecture, wish to walk in the footsteps of Great War soldiers, have a passion for Art Deco, prefer nature walks, or want to enjoy water sports, the Laon region is the perfect destination for you!
In the evening, you might choose to attend jazz or classical music concerts—available year-round—or perhaps indulge in a gourmet meal (several fine-dining establishments, including Michelin-starred restaurants, are within a 30-minute drive).

Located on the shores of Lake Monampteuil, Axo'plage is a nature, leisure, and sports area offering a complete change of scenery, spanning nearly 40 hectares.
Chemin des dames
The site of several bloody battles during the First World War, come and discover the places that have left their mark on history: the Dragon's Cave (Caverne du Dragon), the Épine de Chevregny, the Malmaison Farm, the memorial chapel... all within 10 km of the cottage.

Over a hundred hiking and cycling routes—suitable for groups or families—are available in the area around Chevregny. The website allows you to download the routes.
Visit to the village of Chevregny
A village typical of the post-World War I reconstruction era; discover its combined town hall and school (1926), the stained-glass windows (1931) by Pierre Villette in the Church of Saint-Médard, and the Château des Chaînées (1924–1927). Panels detailing the village's history are installed beneath the washhouse.

A charming little holiday home! Formerly the gatekeeper's lodge for the Château de Chevregny, it can accommodate up to eight guests. Situated in the middle of a beautiful, spacious garden, the house features four well-equipped, clean, and comfortable bedrooms, as well as two bathrooms, a small but functional kitchen, and a large living-dining room with a fireplace.
